Every year around this time I sit down to write a blog entry about why you should make a Bible reading plan for the new year. As committed as I still am to daily Bible reading, I wanted to pose a different question.
What is just one thing you can do over the next 12 weeks to increase your love of God and love for others?

What is just one thing you could do?
A habit you could start?
A spiritual discipline you could develop?
An attitude you could cultivate?
One small, daily seed of faithfulness you could sow?
And what would it look like to devote your time and attention to that one thing for just the next 12 weeks?
If you’re doing the math, that’s simply January through March. Three months to start sowing seeds into one small area of spiritual growth.
For me, 2026 will be about cultivating the attention and habit of prayer. I’m using those words intentionally because I desperately need both when it comes to my prayer life.
How am I doing this?
In my prayer journal I’ve devoted pages to each of the areas below. Using sticky notes under each category, I’ve started jotting down names, prayer requests, verses, specific needs, etc. This allows me to easily change out requests as needed or update answered prayers.
Monday: immediate family & marriage
Tuesday: extended family
Wednesday: small group, church, missionaries, outreach
Thursday: personal life
Friday: those who are suffering
This isn’t about a plan to pray perfectly, but it is about a plan to pray.
If I show up with nothing, my mind will easily wander or feel overwhelmed with all the possibilities there are to pray for. A simple structure helps me show up faithfully.
So what could it be for you as you head into 2026?
Just one thing.
Just twelve weeks.
Small seeds- faithfully planted.
