Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord [always doing your best and doing more than is needed], being continually aware that your labor [even to the point of exhaustion] in the Lord is not futile nor wasted [it is never without purpose].
-1 Corinthians 15:58

It’s that time of year again- calendars are starting to fill up with summer activities, schools are beginning to wind down, warmer weather is starting to show up more consistently, and we start to feel the seasonal shift ahead of us. When I think about the transition from longer school days to more “free time”, I know I want to make sure we’ve built into our rhythms some type of plan to make sure priorities actually happen. As a homeschool mom, I want to use this extra time to focus on things like chore and habit training, spiritual discipleship, connecting with friends, and developing hobbies/ working on projects we might not get to during the school year.
I created this summer planning guide as a tool for myself to think through how I could be faithful with the summer season. For Christians, our time is a gift to steward, not squander. It is be cultivated, not wasted. We are to work hard, not grow idle or weary. We are to live in a way that seeks the good of our neighbors and communities. While our schedules might shift from season to season, our purpose as Christians remains the same. Teaching kids to work hard (and well), sets them up to be a blessing to their future families. Discipling them in the Word sets them up to better choose obedience, not sin. Intentionally making time for people teaches us all that we are part of the body of Christ and need each other.
I hope this download is a blessing to you and encourages you to think strategically through what you say “yes” to this summer!
